The essentials in a few lines
- Istorya creates personalized illustrated stories for children aged 3 to 10, where the child is the hero, to help parents pass on their values.
- The account is created and used by a parent or an adult responsible for the child. The child does not have an account.
- Stories and illustrations are generated by artificial intelligence. We supervise them carefully, but we invite you to discover them before or with your child.
- Istorya is currently in a free beta. A paid plan may be offered later. It will be presented clearly before any payment, and you will never be charged without your agreement.
- The stories created for your child belong to your family: you can read them, keep them and share them with your loved ones. We do not use them in our communication without your agreement.
- You can delete your account and all your data at any time, from your profile.

1. Who we are
Istorya is a service published by the company Istorya, established in Benin (see the legal notice).

In these terms, "Istorya", "we" and "our" refer to the publisher of the service. "You" refers to the person who creates an account and uses the service.
2. Purpose of these terms
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern the use of the Istorya website and application (the "Service"), available at https://www.istorya.site.
By creating an account or using the Service, you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service.
How we process your personal data and your child's is described in our Privacy Policy, which completes these Terms.
3. What Istorya offers
Istorya lets you:
- create your child's profile (first name, age, gender, hair, skin tone);
- add, if you wish and with your explicit consent, a photo of your child so that their character looks like them;
- choose a value to pass on (courage, sharing, honesty…) and an adventure world, or let the AI choose them;
- generate an illustrated story in which your child is the hero, in the language of your choice;
- read the story like a book, then offer your child a short quiz that earns them a star;
- find your stories in your library;
- give us your feedback on the Service.
The Service is designed for children aged 3 to 10. The content of the stories is adapted to the age given in the profile.
The Service evolves. We may add, change or remove features, especially during the beta.
4. Your account
4.1 Who can create an account
The account must be created by an adult who is the child's parent or holds parental authority over them, or an adult caring for the child with their parents' agreement.
The Service is not meant to be used by a child alone. The child discovers their stories with, or under the responsibility of, the adult who holds the account.
4.2 Creation and sign-in
Sign-in currently uses a Google account. You are responsible for the security of that account and for what is done from your Istorya account. If you think someone else is using it without your agreement, let us know at istorya229@gmail.com.
4.3 Accurate information
The information you enter (in particular the child's first name and age) is used to personalize the stories. Please keep it up to date.
5. Your child's photo
Adding a photo is optional. It requires your explicit consent, collected when you add it.
- You may only add a photo of your own child, or of a child over whom you hold parental authority.
- The photo is used only to describe your child's appearance in order to create their illustrated character. It is never used for any other purpose, nor made public.
- You can delete the photo at any time from the profile. Their illustrated character is then deleted too.

6. Stories generated by artificial intelligence
Texts and illustrations are created by artificial intelligence models, based on the information you provide.
We designed Istorya to produce kind, child-appropriate stories, and we filter out inappropriate content. However:
- an AI can make a mistake, an inconsistency, an imperfect picture or a passage that does not suit you;
- an illustrated character may not look exactly like your child;
- an illustration may sometimes fail and need to be generated again.
That is why we invite you to discover each story before or with your child. If any content seems inappropriate, report it to istorya229@gmail.com: we will look into it quickly.
The stories are not educational, medical or psychological advice. They support the parent's role without replacing it.
7. What you agree not to do
By using Istorya, you agree not to:
- enter, in the free-text fields (world, value, language, feedback), content that is violent, hateful, discriminatory, sexual, unlawful or against the child's interest;
- try to obtain content from the Service that is inappropriate for children;
- add a photo of a child without having the right to do so;
- use the Service commercially (selling the stories, building a competing service…) without our written agreement;
- automatically collect content or data from the Service (bots, scripts);
- disrupt the Service, bypass its protections or try to access other users' accounts;
- impersonate another person.
8. Stories and content
8.1 The stories created for your child
You may freely read, keep, print and share with your loved ones the stories and illustrations created for your child, for personal and family use.
We do not use your child's stories, first name or illustrations in our communication (website, social media, advertising) without your prior agreement.
To run the Service (showing your library, generating an illustration again…), we store and process this content under the conditions of the Privacy Policy.
8.2 The Service itself
The Service, its brand, name, logo, design, texts, code and interface illustrations belong to the publisher or its partners. You may not copy, modify or reuse them without our agreement, except as permitted by law.
8.3 Your feedback
When you give us feedback (feedback form, email), you allow us to use it to improve the Service. We do not publish it with your name without your agreement.
9. Price
Istorya is currently offered free of charge, as a beta.
We may later offer a paid plan (for example to create more stories). Before any payment, its terms (price, content, duration, cancellation) will be presented clearly, and you will have to accept them expressly. You will never be charged without your agreement.
During the beta, we may set reasonable usage limits (for example a number of stories per day) to keep the Service available for everyone.
10. Availability of the Service
We do our best to keep the Service available and working properly, but we cannot guarantee that it will always be available or error-free, especially during the beta.
The Service may be interrupted, for example for maintenance, an update or an outage at one of our technical providers. We try to announce planned interruptions in advance.
11. Liability
We are responsible for the proper functioning of the Service within the limits set by law.
We are not responsible for:
- misuse of the Service contrary to these Terms;
- content you enter in the free-text fields;
- an interruption due to force majeure or to an external provider;
- what is done with the stories once you have shared them outside the Service.
Nothing in these Terms limits the rights the law grants you as a consumer.
12. Suspension and closure of the account
12.1 By you
You can stop using Istorya and delete your account at any time, yourself, from the Profile page, under "Delete my account".
Deletion is immediate and permanent. It erases:
- your account and your child's profile;
- your child's photo and their illustrated character;
- all your stories, their illustrations and the stars earned.
Before you confirm, we ask why you are leaving. This answer, and the optional comment that goes with it, are kept anonymously: they are no longer linked to your name or email, and are only used to improve the Service.
Once your account is deleted, we cannot recover your stories. If you have trouble deleting it, write to us at istorya229@gmail.com.
12.2 By us
We may suspend or close an account in case of a serious breach of these Terms, in particular content inappropriate for children or infringement of a third party's rights. Except in an emergency or where the law requires it, we first warn you by email and give you the opportunity to explain yourself.
13. Changes to the Terms
We may update these Terms, for example when the Service changes or the law evolves. In case of a significant change, we notify you by email or in the app before it takes effect. If you do not agree, you can stop using the Service and delete your account.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the law of Benin, in particular Law No. 2007-21 of October 16, 2007 on consumer protection in the Republic of Benin and Law No. 2017-20 of April 20, 2018 on the Digital Code of the Republic of Benin.
In case of disagreement, please write to us first at istorya229@gmail.com: we will look for an amicable solution together.
Failing an amicable solution, the dispute may be brought before the competent courts of Benin, in compliance with the rules protecting consumers. If you live in another country, you keep the protections that the law of your country of residence grants you as a consumer.
